As I have said before and will probably say
again change is never easy. We have moved to our new location and everything is
different. How we set up. What we set up. All feels strange. There is
anticipation we have not felt before. Our comfort zone has been shaken to its
foundation. At the same time we see all the possibilities before us. There is no
doubt that we are smaller in number than we were before. Now there is more room
for those to come.
We may be limited in the amount of people we
have to take on the task of growing a church but we do have all the gifts
necessary to do so. This month we have begun running advertising for Good
Shepherd. We have studied what venue would be best for us. We have discussed
demographics and developed a master plan. We have developed skills we have not
used before. We also believe that God must come first. In that belief we are
stepping out with faith.
Now Good Shepherd moves forward under its own
steam. Each of us is responsible for what happens next. There are too few of us
to form committees so we work together as a team. I am very fortunate that each
of you continues to support this church and have the faith and vision of what it
can be. God has been good to us and will continue to be good.
We have come to a crossroad and chosen to
continue on our journey. One last glance back and we move forward to a journey
that will bring us in contact with new people and new challenges. There will be
new gifts added to our own. Our new mission is to be the best disciples that we
can be. In understanding what it means to serve God both in the Word and in the
living of our lives we will build a strong foundation for our future.
There will be hard work ahead of us. Building
the body of Christ is never easy. People who will come to see what we are about
will look at us closely. Will they see in us something that they want to be a
part of? Will the message we bring ring true by our actions? Time will tell and
God will prevail.
As your Pastor I will need your support and
your prayers. I cannot build this faith community alone. I need your help. As we
begin the journey many of us will learn to multitask and all of us must
strengthen each other by prayer. Let us move forward on this journey with our
eyes forward on all the possibilities God will present to us. Fear not for we
walk with Christ.
Very special thanks to Fran Poole who provided our special music for our
first service at our new location at the corner of Boulevard and North
Avenue. The music lifted our spirits and moved our hearts. We appreciate
you sharing your gift of music with us. She was accompanied by Randy
Barnes who added harmony to this exquisite peace of music,” In the
presence of Jehovah”.. Thank You, Fran and we hope that you will share
your gift again with us soon
This is an interior photo. This is a brand new space. It has fresh paint
and a warm interior with plenty of room to expand. It is a great
flexible space giving us plenty of room to grow. There is a kitchen
space and restrooms not pictured. It is a wonderful space waiting for
us.

One of the first things a new pastor learns is not to talk about money
from the pulpit. People don’t want to hear it. It leaves a nasty taste
in one’s mouth. I do not feel comfortable talking about money period.
However, It is often a necessity to remind ourselves that we do have
financial obligations to meet as a congregation. The rent must be paid
as well as others who perform services for us. Please be as generous in
your contributions as you can. Thank you

A pastor had just finished a lesson on Christian behavior. Now Billy,” he
asked,” tell me what we must do before we can expect to be forgiven for our
sins.”
Without hesitation, Billy replied, “First we gotta sin!”
Just a Thought ...
Let us not be like the man who was lost in the woods.
Later, in describing the experience, he told how frightened he was and how
he had prayed.
“Did God answer your prayer?” someone asked.
“Oh, no,” was the reply. “Before God had a chance, a
guide came along and showed me the path.”
Was the prayer really unanswered?
St. Francis of Assisi ...
On October 4th we honor St. Francis. Born of wealth, he felt called by God
to reject his high station in life and become a servant of the poor. He
rededicated his life to God through poverty and prayer. He eventually
established a religious community who shared the same vows.
Francis had many spiritual gifts. He also had a special gift for
communicating with God’s creatures. They sought him out and they comforted
him. He is known as the patron saint of animals. Statues of Francis are
often found in gardens.
